Back to Watercolor Gallery Back to Main Gallery Another classroom painting AND a sketch day topic. "Fire" was the subject. Y'all (that's a technical Texas term) might be able to tell I was in California on business for the last few days, and thus, the inspiration for this. California was smokey and frantic, and the news was full of tragic stories and incredible pictures. The scale and depth of it is hard to capture. Not just the depth of the picture, but the emotional reaction to the scene...the great cities we've built and how small they are against the backdrop of nature...the dangers we face and how overwhelming they are...the insignificance of all our power against something like that...the smallness of the plane, which is our greatest weapon in this particular battle... And yet still we persist. Perhaps that's the greatest power of them all. Not really happy with it......and I was experimenting anyway, but here ya go! Watercolor.
